Badass Comic Book Cover: Action Comics #0

badass-action0

Every week, I’ll be bringing you a comic book cover that I feel eclipses others out there—to the point I might just have to own it!

The BadAss Comic Book Cover for this week is for Action Comics #0. The New 52 has been going now for a year. Fans had some questions though about the new continuity concerning some of their favorite characters. In response, DC Comics editor-in-chief Bob Harras said about the Issue #0s: “Some issues will tell the origins of a character or a team, or in some case where an origin has already been told, they will fill in the blanks in terms of questions readers may have about the New 52 DC Universe. Each of these issues promises to reveal something surprising.” That’s a great idea, in my opinion, especially the idea of having stand alone stories as the #0.

Why do I love this cover though? It’s those damn boots! The New 52 version of Action Comics has featured Clark Kent’s early days in Metropolis when he is fresh from the farm. He is a bit naive, a bit brash. He is wearing work boots of all things! He leads with them as he breaks through the comic book cover, in a powerful leaping pose that is similar to the other characters on their #0 covers but still intrinsically a Superman pose.
