Badass Comic Book Cover: The Gunslinger: The Man In Black #3

Every week, I’ll be bringing you a comic book cover that I feel eclipses others out there—to the point I might just have to own it!

The BadAss Comic Book Cover for this week is for Dark Tower: The Gunslinger: The Man In Black #3. Marvel has done a great job with one of my favorite book series. They have almost finished adapting the entirety of The Gunslinger by Stephen King, and the final battle is coming down between Roland Deschain and the Man in Black. After all, the first sentence of the book captures its essence:

“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.”

Why do I love this cover though? It’s the scene. It is a figurative interpretation of a death that is foreshadowed and the hardship that Roland deals with from it. The Man in Black watches over his shoulder, the architect of the death. I love the use of the puddle mirror; Roland is looking into it and reflecting on the choices he has made. I love how subdued the colors are except for the brilliant red of death. It actually gives me shivers looking at it and makes me want to re-read the book again.

Don’t miss the series that Stephen King fans everywhere are raving about!
