Badass Comic Book Cover: Ozymandias #2

badass-ozymandias2

Every week, I’ll be bringing you a comic book cover that I feel eclipses others out there—to the point I might just have to own it!

The BadAss Comic Book Cover for this week is for Before Watchmen: Ozymandias #2. Before Watchmen is the controversial move by DC Comics to tell a prequel story of its fantastic graphic novel, Watchmen. Watchmen is one of Time Magazines Top 100 novels of all time. For a comic book series, that is pretty damn cool. Alan Moore, the writer of Watchmen, is not taking part in this venture though, and his lack of enthusiasm for the project is well documented. This leaves some people wanting more from the Watchmen universe while others are as incensed as Moore at its inception.

Why do I love this cover though? Regardless of your feelings, DC Comics has brought together an all-star group of creators to try fill the shoes of Moore and artist Dave Gibbons. Jae Lee, one of my favorite artists of all time, was brought on board—and you can see his talents here. A great straight on angle. The lines of her body against his. The flow of his cape between her legs. Jae Lee always does a lot with less, but this image is 50 Shades of Grey hot in comic books! With his arms around her legs, it makes you wonder, “Does he like this?”

Whoooaaa…provocative choice there Shawn. Nicely drawn and a bit intriguing.
