Badass Comic Book Cover: Justice League #7

badass-jla7

Every week, I’ll be bringing you a comic book cover that I feel eclipses others out there—to the point I might just have to own it!

The BadAss Comic Book Cover for this week is for Justice League #7. I know, I know. It gets tiring putting up Jim Lee art and calling it exceptional. But the man is great at his job. The Justice League is comprised of some of the most iconic super heroes of our history and Jim Lee loves to draw them. It is clear in every cover he does. Now that the first story arc of the new 52 Justice League is over and we know how the team came together, writer Geoff Johns has fast-forwarded to the present of the DC universe. Who is on the team? And what is the new threat? Jim Lee gives hints to all of that in this cover.

Why do I love this cover though? It is filled with action. The Justice League is standing their ground but it is clear they are on the precipice of possibly losing. I like what Jim Lee has done here with Superman, putting him the foreground while something gnaws on his shoulder and his eyes are crimson fire, but the best part of the image is Wonder Woman, standing behind Superman, giving a left cross to some unsuspecting creature. It’s the movement in her strike that pulls the entire image together. I’m not too keen on the inking or coloring here but Wonder Woman is completely right.
