Every week I’ll be bringing you a comic book cover that I feel eclipses others out there—to the point I might just have to own it!
The BadAss Cover for this week is for War of the Green Lanterns: Aftermath #2. The Green Lantern Corp has been put through the ringer many times in the past, but the last few years even more so. It isn’t stopping now. With DC Comics relaunching all new #1 series in a month or two, you better believe the Green Lanterns are also part of the shake up.
What does that mean? It means conflict. And with Sinestro featured on one of those new issue run covers as a Green Lantern once more, DC Comics is creating a lot of conflict!
But there has to be a lead in to that kind of storytelling and they’ve already begun it. Hence my pick for today’s badass cover of the week.
Why do I love it? It has past significance. Whenever a lantern is blown apart, you know some serious shyte is going down. For the majority of Green Lantern history, lanterns have been needed. They are responsible for recharging the ring and give Green Lanterns their power. From a technical point of view, I love the image itself. It’s colorful, has movement, and combines the lovely green of the Corp with the blood of their sacrifice. It’s just a wonderful piece of Lantern artwork.
