Be Good, Little Puppy is the seventh volume collecting the award winning webcomic Penny Arcade, a hilarious ongoing series chronicling the misadventures and musings of creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins’ alter-egos John “Gabe” Gabriel and Tycho Brah. Gabe and Tycho both navigate and participate in the gamer subculture, providing colorful commentary and laughs alike on any topic that strays into their crossfire.
Krahulik and Holkins have managed to take their little comic strip and transform it into a multi-media empire spanning across several platforms: podcasting, video games and a very well attended annual fan convention. As you can imagine, the guys stay pretty darn busy.
I managed to catch up with Jerry Holkins for a comment about the Be Good, Little Puppy while he and the rest of the Penny Arcade team were getting ready for San Diego Comic Com. Here’s what he had to say:
“As the ‘writer,’ it falls to me whenever the annual collection must be spiced with anecdotes, or have its bizarre, borderline nonsensical content explained in detail. In years past, it has had historical value at the very least: I think collating and contextualizing these strips, borne of the Internet’s formative years, has an inherent value. But as the process continued on Be Good, Little Puppy, it became clear that I was actually – I mean this – sort of enjoying some of the comics! It was a truly strange sensation. I’m proud to say that this collection contains many comics I don’t completely hate! There are even two comics I kind of like. Here’s to progress.”
Thanks, Jerry! We at Suvudu bet that you’ll love Be Good, Little Puppy, available now.
