Sam Raimi to produce and direct adaptation of EARP: SAINTS FOR SINNERS

Earp: Saints for Sinners | 2010 Radical PressEarlier today Matt Staggs reported that Guillermo Del Toro has signed on to helm At The Mountains of Madness. Now we have more news on the movie front involving another big name director: Radical Publishing has confirmed that Sam Raimi (he of the Spider-Man and Evil Dead franchises among many other film projects you’ve heard of) will produce and direct a film adaptation of Radical’s Earp: Saints for Sinners.

According to the press release and this article (from Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog but appearing on the DreamWorks site), the film is being produced by Mandeville Films partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman for DreamWorks with Matt Cirulnick attached to write the screenplay.

Curious to know what this series is about? Picture Wyatt Earp transported to a modern day dystopian Las Vegas.

Or, as Radical describes it:

In a world where the American economy has all but collapsed to the levels of the Great Depression, infamous bandits roam the country and the law is as corrupt as the criminals its sworn to stop. Yet one lawman remains a steadfast moral compass for the people: WYATT EARP. Earp has collared more most-wanted men than anyone in history – but after a violent assignment claims the life of his brother, Wyatt sets out to forge a simple life in the only boomtown left: Las Vegas. With gorgeous women and free-flowing money on endless tap, Sin City attracts more people than a modern gold rush. Though Earp no longer wears a U.S. Marshall’s badge, his past is about to catch up to him. With nearly everything to lose, Earp will have to beat the odds stacked against him in order to bring old-fashioned justice to Sin City.

Pretty cool, eh? Earp is planned to be a three-part miniseries to be published by Radical. You can get your hands on the Issue #0 Preview Issue from Radical for $1 by clicking here: Earp: Saints for Sinners Issue #0 (be sure to click on the Gallery tab to check out some of the character designs).

You tell Vegas that Wyatt Earp is coming—and Hell’s coming with him, you hear?!

  1. I want to know if Sam Raimi is still relevant, considering his terrible handling of Spider-Man 3 and Legend of the Seeker…
